Joanna peacefully passed away on August 22, 2019 with her family at her side and was reunited with the love of her life Cornelius (Casey) who passed away November 8, 1999.

Joanna was born July 15, 1927 on the Barge, which her dad was a skipper of, along with her identical twin sister Maria. Her family lived on the barge and travelled through the canals of Holland, Belgium and Germany even during the war years.
Joanna and Casey met in Amsterdam and they were married on May 10, 1952 and immigrated to Canada in June of the same year to start their life together in Edmonton, where their five children were born. Joanna also lived in Fort McMurray, Rocky Mountain House, Nanoose Bay, British Columbia and then back to Rocky Mountain House. Mom enjoyed many trips back to Holland, as well as, loving to travel and camp in the beloved Pleasure Way Van with Dad. She loved to read, had a great love for animals and spending time with her family.
Joanna is survived by her five children: Mary (Michael) Mofford, Roy (Sue) Ruyselaar, Margie (Jake) Spoor, Brian (Margaret Hooey) Ruyselaar, and Jacqueline (Paul) Girard; twelve grandchildren and twenty three and soon to be twenty six great grandchildren; oldest brother Pete and youngest sister Irene both of Holland.
Joanna was predeceased by her parents and her other three siblings as well as her husband Casey.
At Joanna’s request we will not have a memorial service. In order to honor her wishes there will be a Private Celebration of her life with the family she loved. Cremation entrusted to the Rocky Mountain Crematorium.
