It is with great sadness that we announce that Merle White has gone to be with the creator, after a short but strong battle with cancer surrounded by his wife and children. Merle was a very well respected man in the Aboriginal Community. His guidance, wisdom and spirit will be greatly missed by all who had the opportunity to know him and learn from him. We thank the creator that we were able to have him as our husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and mentor. Merle will be laid to rest alongside his father and mother, in the Alexander First Nations Cemetery, in a private family interment on June 26th, 2018. A Memorial Service will be held at the Lou Soppit Community Centre, 5404 48st, Rocky Mountain House, AB on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 1:00pm.
The family would like to thank everyone for all their love and support during this difficult time.

During the time I volunteered with the Calgary friendship centre and ANFCA, Merle was a constant source of guidance, encouragement and support. Merle greatly enriched our urban community by sharing his broad cultural knowledge with grace and humility. He had a unique ability to uplift during discouraging times, knew just when to inject humour to lighten the mood and was never afraid to speak truth to power. Respected by elders, an inspiration to youth, a true Friend... we will miss you, Merle.
