Obituary

Dumas, Audrey Louise
1937 -2019
It is with heavy saddened hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Audrey Louise Dumas (nee Hiltz) on June 18, 2019 at the Rocky Mountain House Care Center at the age of 81 years. Audrey was born to Emily Lunam and Arthur Hiltz on July 21, 1937 in Prince Albert, Sask. She was the 6th of 9 children.
Audrey spent her younger years growing up on a farm near Prince Albert, Sask. In 1948, her family moved to Prince Rupert, B.C. It was here where she met and married George Dumas. Throughout the years, Audrey and George made many moves throughout Canada following George’s career. They were blessed on this journey with their 2 children: Steven and Georgina. In 1979, Audrey and George finally settled in Rocky Mountain House, AB, where Audrey worked in the Rocky Mtn. House CO-OP shoe department for over 20 years when she retired.
During retirement, together Audrey and George enjoyed their acreage life: gardening, landscaping and bird watching, making their property their dream spot. Audrey spent several years taking care of her George before his passing in 2012. However, soon after, Audrey started fighting her own health issues. But when she was feeling well and able, she spent her time with her friends that she made over the years, delivering “Meals on Wheels” and took care of the people in her community. Audrey lived for her excursions with her son, Steven, driving out west partaking in wiener roasts, camp fires, picnics and enjoying nature.
Audrey is survived by her son Steven and daughter Georgina (Stephen) Foster; 4 grandchildren: Garrett (Lindsay), Christina (Mark), Nicole and Sharla; 3 great grandchildren: Madison, Liam and Elizabeth; siblings: May, Marie, Thomas (Margaret) and Kenneth; in-laws: Ann, Sharon, John, Rueben, and Joanne; and special extended family: Sara (Richard) and their children Riley and Sophia. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews
Audrey is predeceased by her loving husband George; parents Arthur and Emily Hiltz; siblings: Irene, Francis, Edward, and Ernest; in-laws: Robert, Arthur, Mel, John and Steve: nephews Larry and Robert; and niece Rene.
A Celebration of Audrey’s life will be held at the Chapel of the Rocky Funeral Home on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at 1:00 PM. Cremation entrusted to the Rocky Mountain Crematorium, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Audrey’s name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
