Obituary

Holkestad, Jack
June 2, 1954 – April 21, 2018

Jack Holkestad passed away peacefully with his family by his side,
on April 21, 2018 in the Red Deer Hospital, at the age of 63 years.
Jack is survived by his sons Jake (Bonnie) Holkestad and Justin (Erin) Holkestad,
his siblings Dave (Michele) Holkestad and their daughter Randi, Larry Holkestad,
Lois (Victor) Stang and their sons Michael and Gregory.
Jack was predeceased by his parents Les and Lillian Holkestad.
Jack was born and raised in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.
In 1969 Les, Jack’s father, was offered a job as an electrician with Gulf and
was involved in the construction of what is now the Keyera Strachan plant.
Soon after accepting the job the rest of the family packed up and moved to Rocky Mountain House.
Jack graduated in 1972 from Will Sinclair High School. He spent most of his working career in the Oil Patch.
The majority of his experience was spent as an operator with Dome, Dekalb, Apache and Acclaim Energy.
One of Jacks favorite achievements, other than his kids, was the Log Home he and Bonnie Cunningham built from the ground up.
Of course the completion of the log home was only made possible because of the help and donated time from good friends.
The Construction started in 1981 and was completed in 1983. In February 1984 his oldest, Jacob, was born and in May 1986 his youngest, Justin, was born. Jack loved his family and his friends. He was passionate for sports, mainly for the Saskatchewan Roughriders and loved to hate the Calgary Flames.
Jack was a social butterfly with a kind soul, he will be missed.
A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #8, Rocky Mountain House, on Saturday May 12, 2018 at 1pm, with a come and go lunch to follow. Cremation entrusted to the Rocky Funeral Home and Crematorium.
