Obituary

Jensen, Margie Thelma
1927 - 2018

It is with sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Margie Thelma Jensen, on October 21,2018 at the age of 90 years, two months short of her 91st birthday at the Good Samaritan Clearwater Centre in Rocky Mountain House.

Margie was born on December 21, 1927, the oldest of five children born to William and Thelma Bean. She was raised on the family farm at Ricinus. She tended the farm animals, worked in the fields and garden and helped her father in his blacksmith shop. Her early schooling was at the local school, but when it was time for her to go to high school her parents managed to send her and later her sisters, to the boarding school at Dickson. She studied and helped to pay her expenses by doing both the morning and evening milking at a local farmer’s farm. While at boarding school she forged many lifelong friendships. These girls kept in contact for over seventy years even as the circle became smaller. Her last visit with a classmate was just a couple of months ago.

After graduation, she was the teacher at a one room school. There she met a fellow who caught her eye. She and Albert married in 1949. For many years, Margie was a stay-at-home Mom. She was active in the Ladies Guild at the Memorial Presbyterian Church and was also one of their C.G.I.T. leaders. Later she worked at the Belle Shoppe and became it’s manager. Margie was also very involved with TOPS and was a group leader for many years.

Margie was an accomplished seamstress. She had a passion for gardening and it seemed she could make anything grow anywhere she wanted it to. She and Albert loved to travel and made many lasting friendships on their trips. She had the gift of hospitality and could always make room for one more at her table. Over the years she hosted many family gatherings. As a grandmother and later a great grandmother, she was actively involved and attended every special event she could.

Margie is survived by Thelma (Allan) Bowhay, Jordan (Karen) Bowhay, Tallan Bowhay, Tanner Bowhay, Tyler Bowhay, Blain Bruce, Tristan Bruce, Luke (Cheryl ) Bruce, Duncan Bruce, Arlene Hall and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband Albert, daughter Irene Bruce, sons Dean and Kenneth Jensen, grandson Timothy Bowhay, granddaughter-in-law Rose Marie Bowhay, and son-in-law Don Bruce.

Memorial Service for Margie will be held at the Memorial Presbyterian Church on November 10, 2018 at 3:00 PM. Cremation has been entrusted to Rocky Mountain Crematorium, Rocky Mountain House, AB.
Memorial donations in Margie’s name may be made to the Cancer Society, the Diabetes Society or the charity of the donor’s choice
