McDougall, Jack Dennis

It is with heavy hearts we relate the passing of Jack, our father, grandfather, brother, uncle and most of all friend.

Jack was born on April 29, 1949 in Minnesdosa, Manitoba and grew up in The Pas and Thompson. He loved sports from a young age and was a long time participant and fan of hockey, baseball, curling and golf.

Jack first moved to Rocky Mountain House in 1968 with his family and his son Jason was born here. He moved north from here to Faro, Yukon where he spent several years working at the mine. He came back to Rocky to stay in the 1980’s where he was employed in the oil industry until his retirement. Anyone who has worked with Jack will remember him as an exceptionally hard worker and a supportive friend. Jack’s lasting legacy will be the love, support and friendship he offered everyone around him. He understood the down and out and used his own life experiences to try and help those around him, whether their need was physical, emotional or spiritual. Those of us who were fortunate enough to know him will miss him always.
We take comfort in knowing that as Jack left his family and friends here, on October 11, 2018, he looked forward to meeting up with old friends. His son Jason and brothers Dale and Glenn were with him as he left this life, truly at peace and knowing full well where he was going and that all was well.

Jack was predeceased by his parents, Gladys and Jack and brothers Don and Wayne.
Jack will be fondly remembered by his son Jason (Erika) his grandchildren Nathan and Leah, his brothers Dale (Paula) and Glenn (Marianne) and their families, his sister-in-law Gwen and friends too numerous to mention.

At Jack’s request no service will be held. Cremation has been entrusted to Rocky Mountain Crematorium, Rocky Mountain House, AB.

Rocky and Sylvan Lake Funeral Homes and Crematorium, your Golden Rule Funeral Homes, entrusted with the arrangements. 403-845-2626

Very sorry to hear that. Wayne McDougall was best friend growing up in Thompson and going to Thompson High. The family lived 1/2 block from our house on Walnut. Lost track of the boys when they moved away and met them again in 2002 at the 40th High School Reunion. Please express my sincere condolences to the extended family wherever they are. As a kid, Jackie always had that great devilish smile!
