Obituary

Zara Lee Chambers and Bridget Miriam Chambers
November 11, 1998 – December 16, 2017

Zara and Bridget were born on November 11th 1998 in Calgary, Alberta along with their triplet sister Grace to parents Anette and Lee. Their arrival marked the beginning of a very busy chapter for the Chambers household as they already had a nineteen-month old sister Charlotte. Having four children under two meant life quickly became a blur of bottles and diaper changing. As the saying goes, “it takes a village to raise a child” and Rocky Mountain House and the girls were certainly an example of this.
However, they wouldn’t stay the babies of the family for long. In 2002 they were joined by sister Isabel and in 2005 by youngest sister Amelia. Triplets are uncommon anywhere, but are even more rare in a small community like Rocky Mountain House. As a result of this, every kid knew of them from the very first day they started school. Although this was often the first thing people would learn about them, Bridget and Zara were always adamant about being recognized for their individual personalities and accomplishments.

Both of the girls were known for their outgoing personalities and for their phenomenal athleticism. Over the years they played on multiple teams in multiple sports (Red Deer Renegades, Rocky Knights, West Central Rebels), but it was soccer that ultimately led them to play with the Huskies at Keyano College in Fort McMurray.

Zara was enrolled in English and Psychology. Back home, she worked as a lifeguard/instructor and volunteered at the vet clinic. She loved the outdoors, especially the mountains and the ocean, and loved writing, whether it was in her journal or in her letters back home. Her self-discipline helped her excel in all her pursuits. She was always known for her considerate and kind gestures towards others.
Bridget was enrolled in Business. She also touched many people’s lives as a lifeguard/instructor and waitress at the Pine Hills Golf Course. She had a love for animals, especially her boxer dog “Q”. Anyone who knew Bridget would tell you what a passionate, adventurous girl she was. Her laugh was as contagious as it was full of life. She was a very generous person.

Zara and Bridget were taken from us tragically on Dec. 16th 2017 on route home for Christmas from Keyano College, Fort McMurray.
They are survived by their loving parents Anette and Lee, sisters; Charlotte, Grace, Isabel and Amelia, maternal grandparents Inge and Egon Skovmose and paternal grandparents Kay and Tony Chambers, aunts and uncles; Rachel Chambers, Marlene (Sandy) Johnson, and Mark (Candice) Skovmose, and numerous cousins.
Our miracle babies’ time with us may have been short, but they certainly impacted many.
They arrived together and departed together.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 1:30 PM at The First Christian Reformed Church, Rocky Mountain House. Cremation entrusted to the Rocky Mountain Crematorium, Rocky Mountain House.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in the girl’s names to the local community soccer association, Rocky Knights Soccer Association, Box 1082 Rocky Mountain House, Alberta T4T 1A8.

What I do know for sure is the short time these earthly angels were with us, they brightened our lives & they lived with passion & with purpose. We will always remember their giggles. We will always remember their friendship. We will remember their determination in everything they tried. A community helped to raise them. That same community will forever hold you all in its loving embrace. Bridget & Zara had 4 birth sisters and so many deep friendships that were sisters of the heart. Peter Benoite:
Just wanted to pass on my condolences to the entire athletic community at Keyano, in particular the women's soccer team and coaches, and to the family of Zara and Bridget.

On this day, 3 years ago, our team lost our best player to suicide. It was a devastating event for us and our team, and words couldn't describe how tough it was. I never thought losing a player to death would be ever something I would have to deal with as a coach.

The support of the basketball community here helped us move forward, and i'm sure your support will be a pillar for the team, coaches and family to lean on.

I feel for the family, friends, teammates and coaches of Zara and Bridget. I wish you much strength in the days to come.

Yours in sport,

Peter Benoite
Head Basketball Coach, Memorial University of Newfoundland.

I didn’t know Bridgette or Zara very well. I only met them a handful of times at tournaments. But I did know the absolute love and devotion Grace had for them. They were lovely people, who I grew to cherish through Grace. I heard tons of silly story’s about Bridgette and Zara during the years I wrested with Grace. I laughed at the goofiness the three of them got themselves into and marveled at the pure love they had for each other. I cannot fathom the pain your family is going through. I am so sorry for your loss. Praying for all of you. They were amazing people, and will forever be missed.

:
I didn’t have the pleasure of becoming very close with Bridget and Zara, but just from the short encounters I had with the girls I know they were absolutely amazing people. Bridget and Zara had these huge contagious smilies, that radiated the keyano college campus. The girls had gentle souls, huge hearts, and such a positive outlook on life. I wish I would’ve gotten the chance to become closer with the girls, but just from our short chats in the residence elevator I came to learn that they were very special woman. They taught me to always look for the beautiful things in life, and how a genuine smilie can change a persons day.

To the Chambers family: Thanks for raising such beautiful, and genuine girls. My heart is with you guys in this time of tragedy, I pray you will eventually be able to find peace and comfort.

Rest In Peace Bridget and Zara, you will be greatly missed.

Lee and Anette and girls. I can't express how sorry I am for you at this horrible loss. My heart breaks for you all. I'm hoping that you can find comfort some way, some how. This was given to me when I lost my child and it brought me comfort, I want to pass it on to you in hopes that it can do the same for you.

A Child Of Mine (after Edgar Albert Guest)

I will lend you, for a little time,
A child of mine, He said.
For you to love the while she lives,
And mourn for when she's dead.
It may be six or seven years,
Or twenty-two or three.
But will you, till I call her back,
Take care of her for Me?
She'll bring her charms to gladden you,
And should her stay be brief.
You'll have her lovely memories,
As solace for your grief.
I cannot promise she will stay,
Since all from earth return.
But there are lessons taught down there,
I want this child to learn.
I've looked the wide world over,
In search for teachers true.
And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes,
I have selected you.
Now will you give her all your love,
Nor think the labour vain.
Nor hate me when I come
To take her home again?
I fancied that I heard them say,
'Dear Lord, Thy will be done!'
For all the joys Thy child shall bring,
The risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter her with tenderness,
We'll love her while we may,
And for the happiness we've known,
Forever grateful stay.
But should the angels call for her,
Much sooner than we've planned.
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes,
And try to understand.
Susan, Shannon, Evan and Mckinley :

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family as they deal with this tragic loss. Bridget and Zara will be missed. We are happy we had the opportunity to meet them and see them play.
Jerrett:
I don't know these girls personally, but my heart pours out to the family and friends. Both my kids knew these girls and said they will be missed forever. So sorry for your loss.
Teake, Candace, Ani, Sofia & Maddi:
Words could never be adequate here, our hearts are broken right now for you. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. We love you all so much.
Lorelei Talbot:
Our hearts go out to you and family. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Terryl and Max Brosda:
We are so sorry for your loss. Words cannot express our sadness. Bridget and Zara were beautiful girls whose smiles filled the room with sunshine. They will be missed but always remembered.
Rob, Elaine, Ryan, and Mitchell:
Our hearts are shattered for you. Take strength in each other. Love you. Rob, Elaine, Ryan and Mitchell.
