Obituary

Travis Lee Wylhuizen Smith
February 15, 1989 – January 8, 2018

Travis Smith passed away unexpectedly in Calgary, AB on January 8, 2018 at the age of 28.

Travis was a simple young man who could lite up a room with his smile and made people laugh with his sense of humour and stories. He was a kind and thoughtful soul, always put others before himself. Travis was fearless, he jumped into things without a care in the world, he was a go with the flow type of guy. He grew up here in Rocky starting his first job at Sobey’s. Travis moved to Olds for a bit, and was currently living in Calgary, working for Safeway as a night stockman; he worked hard and not once complained. When not working he enjoyed time to himself, drawing which was his passion, playing video games, biking, tubing down the creek and paint balling with friends. With his family it was sitting around the campfire, playing horse shoes, and enjoying our family campouts. He was a son, a brother, a grandson, a cousin and a nephew. He touched many lives and he will live on in our hearts.

He is survived by his parents Carla and Darcy; sisters Jenessa (Ben) and Chanace, maternal grandparents Gertie and Herb Wylhuizen; aunt Shelley (Gary), uncles Rod (Marcy), Herby (Crystal), Ken and Murray, his cousins Michelle, Jeff, Jenny, Jessie and Heidi (JD), Dakota, Gracie & Liam, Alyssa, Rhiannon, Nikki, Daxton, and Colby

A Celebration of Travis’ life will be held on Monday, January 15, 2018 at 2:00 PM from the Rocky Funeral Home. Cremation entrusted to the Rocky Mountain Crematorium.

As an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made in Travis’s name to the Epilepsy Association 316, 4014 Macleod Trail SE, Calgary, Alberta T2G 2R7.
