All are welcome to attend and celebrate Tom’s life at a grave side service at the Caroline Cemetery on January 18th, 2019 at 1:00 PM. Flinn Funeral Services of Rocky Mountain House will officiate.
In respect to Tom’s wishes no reception will be held.
Interment:  Caroline Cemetery, Caroline Alberta
Notice:  Donations can be made in Tom’s honor to The Canadian Cancer Society.

Obituary

Chapin, Tomalin Morris
Tomalin Morris Chapin, age 87, passed away on the 10th of January 2019.
Tom is survived by his four children; Valerie Staben – John (Deceased) of Caroline, Bernie Letniak – Frank of Consort Alberta, Ed Chapin – Jolene of Cochrane Alberta, and Miles Chapin – Maureen of Stauffer Alberta. He is pre-deceased in death by his loving wife Edna of Caroline, Alberta. Tom is also survived by eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Tom was born on 31st of August 1931, in Drumheller, Alberta, to parents John Tomalin (Tom) and Mary Kathleen Chapin. Tom was one of nine siblings, six brothers and three sisters.
Tom married his wife of 56 years, Edna Marie Harriot on the17th of February 1951. Tom and Edna lived most of their married lives in the Caroline area. Tom worked at several jobs throughout his life, starting in the forestry, drilling rigs, mining in Canmore, truck driving and whatever it took to put food on the table. He operated Tom’s Oilfield Service for several years eventually selling the business to his son in law John Staben. Retired from the oil patch, Tom and Edna took up farming raising beef and dairy NE of Caroline then near Stauffer.
Work did not take up all his time, he enjoyed chasing the rodeos in his younger years, fishing, hunting, driving his ponies. In retirement from farming, he moved on to the four-wheel version and enjoyed many great days with his friends and family driving throughout the West Country.

The family would like to thank all the staff and residents of the Retirement home the “Ravines at Park Avenue”, Rocky Mountain House, AB for their kindness and professionalism while making Dad’s last day’s enjoyable.
We would also like to thank everyone at Rocky Funeral Home for taking care of Tom after passing and guiding us through this difficult time with great care and attention.

We are very sorry for your loss.Mom and Dad enjoyed his and your mothers company in years gone by. Would have like to see everyone again but we were unable to attend.
