Born and raised in Livelong, Sask., the son of Frank and Rose (Whitford) Bekolay, he spent the last 30 years of his life as a resident of Condor, Alta.
In his early years, Dan spent his childhood living near Turtle Lake, Sask., with his family and cousins whom he loved dearly. Some of his fondest memories were fishing with Arnie and enjoying the lake. He was artistic as a child and he loved to draw scenery. Dan worked all of his life starting at an early age going up north to work with his Dad. Dan enjoyed his yearly hunting trips with his closest friends Gary and Peter and had many great memories with them. Dan had many close friends who he cared deeply about. Dan was married in 1960, to Jeanette and together they had one daughter, Mona. Moving to Calgary in the late 1970s Dan met Jennifer (Unruh) Bekolay and they were married in June 1979. Together they had two children, Chantelle and Ryan. In 1988, Dan and Jenny moved north from Calgary to Condor, Alta., area, where he resided until his passing. Dan loved living in the country where he could take a drive to visit the neighbor’s, many of whom also became very good friends. Dan worked as a carpenter and took pride in his work. He spent many hours in his workshop where he built beautiful pieces of furniture and artwork. Dan spent many of his last days carving model airplanes out of wood, which he was very passionate about.

Selina Mytting :
What I loved most about Dan was his loyalty to friends. He kept in touch with my dad even though it wasn’t easy to to have a phone conversation with him. Dad always told me when he called. He was a good friend to my dad

Bob Holwinko:
Oh my gosh, the beautiful memories of a beautiful man and a true tradesman in every way. Some great times were had with you back in 'the day', Dan, and do have a great time with Gary, John, Bill and the rest of the up yonder gang. God bless you, my friend.
Cindy (Schroh) Kroeger:
Even though my Uncle Dan became not my ‘legal’ uncle when he and my Aunt Jeanette divorced decades ago, we were still niece and uncle emotionally until his passing. He stayed in touch with family and us with him. He always had a smile and often a chuckle when I saw or spoke to him. I am certain that he is reunited with my Uncle Gary and they are raising a raucous in heaven. Love you Uncle Dan...’Ciddits PeePee’
